An artful fusion of ancient earth treasures and modern design, this handcrafted pendant pairs a mesmerizing tranlsucent Botswana Agate with a rare fossilized Ammolite. Framed  and accented in 14KY gold and textured Sterling, it is indeed a piece of wearable contemporary art.  

At its center is a gemmy, pear-shaped Botswana Agate featuring a nearly transparent, golden-amber body criss-crossed by abstract triangular, creamy striations.  These producie remarkable depth of illumination.  Framed in solid 14KY gold and a freeform, hand-sawn Sterling border, it just radiates.  The texture of the border ehances the earthiness of the agate.  It's suspended from a geometeric sterling bail centered with a focal amber ammolite with golden-green iridescence, magnified by its gold bezel.  As the agate sways freely on the bail, light reflections and color flashes are intensified.  Gold granule accents and earthy texture add to the overall captivating effect of the design.  With added hand texture to the back, the pendant is beautiful in all directions.  It's finished with a sleek 1.2mm solid Sterling snake chain and lobster clasp.  As the bail has been designed for the pendant to be detachable, versatile wear with a gold chain, earthy leather cord, or braided colorful silk provides a selection of styling options.

Both Botswana Agate and Ammolite are fascinating materials with rich geological origins and distinctive visual character.  The agate is predominantly from mines in Botswana, South Africa.  It was formed more than 500 million years ago through volcanic activity and consists of a specific type of microcrystalline quartz.  Its geometric banding results in arresting patterns, each unique.  High grade speciimens are semi-translucent as this gemstone is and exhiibit an inner glow.  Its durable for daily wear.  Ammonlite is an organic gemstone formed from the fossilzed shells of extinct ammonites.  These creatures  existed as squid-like mollusks  over 70 million years ago.  It is one of the rarest organic gems, found in a single deposit mined in Alberta, Canada.  Specimens have a vivid spectrum of color due to light interference, not pigmentation, and are incredibly iridescent.  The gem is relatively soft and delicate, requiring some care attention.
