Inspiration and Process

     My studio and home have relocated to the Sandy Springs community of Atlanta, GA.  An active arts culture here fosters new clients to design for and inspiration from local jewelry artists. 

    Underlying my designs is the belief that jewelry should be more than an accessory or something to coordinate with an outfit. It should be an expression of the individual personality, character, and style of its wearer.   Mass-produced jewelry, even from top designers, may not achieve this objective. Uniquely handcrafted jewelry designs can! 

      Each artisan-crafted piece reflects the magic of the melding of natural gemstones and precious metals.   The distinctiveness  of each piece of jewelry evolves from this complex blending of mother earth's creation of gemstone and metal and the goldsmith's strokes. Our life experiences mold each of our own uniqueness similarly. Why shouldn't our jewelry style reflect the same.

     As a trained goldsmith, I incorporate quality, reliably resourced gemstones, and precious metals into fully handmade designs as one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces.   I seek singularly-shaped, often uncommon types of gemstones for designs and attempt to permit the stone and metals to “speak” to each other to render each design unique.   Frequently, I incorporate hand-fabricated clasps, chains, or other components to integrate with the overall jewelry design. Completing a piece of jewelry always brings me great joy and the satisfaction of having  crafted something of distinctive beauty.

     Custom designs, including re-purposing old jewelry or incorporating a found object with memories, are available on request. I find the collaboration required to design and create a bespoke piece of jewelry creatively exciting.   It is a true privilege to bring joy and beauty to someone or to a person special to them.
